Cypherpunks

Cypherpunks are a group of loosely organized digital privacy activists who began coding privacy-oriented applications in the early 1990s. Tim May, Eric Hughes, and John Gilmore founded the group in 1992. Many concepts central to Bitcoin were developed in this online community.
